Atlanta, GA BestFit, Inc. is excited to announce that CEO Asha Owens has been selected as 1 of 15 Fellows for Atlanta's Center for Civic Innovation 2021 Fellowship class.
Fellows are leaders and entrepreneurs who are each working to uniquely address inequality in metro Atlanta. The 2021 class is tackling issues including reproductive justice to veteran services to affordable housing and other concerns that affect social and economic outcomes in their communities. The CCI Fellowship Program provides resources and support to each leader as they grow and scale their work and helps them design solutions that can measurably make a stronger impact.
"I am excited to join this cohort of changemakers as we expand our work within the community to ensure Atlanta’s college students have their basic needs met," says Asha Owens, CEO & Co-Founder of BestFit.
With support from CCI and fellow cohort members, BestFit hopes to directly address the widening inequalities faced by Atlanta's nontraditional and historically underrepresented college students. Metro Atlanta college students at risk of dropping out due to non-academic factors are disproportionately Black, and COVID-19 has exacerbated inequalities such as access to childcare, Internet & tech, basic needs, and healthcare. By directly working with colleges and organizations who support >60% communities of color to connect their students with resources, we will directly impact Atlanta’s Black college student population.
